Frequently asked questions

For diagnostic tests we usually work from a referral from your GP or consultant, which tells us the clinical question your tests need to answer. If you don't have a referral, contact us and we will guide you on the next step.

Call us on 020 3330 0033 or use the enquiry form on our Contact page. If you are using private medical insurance, please obtain pre-authorisation from your insurer before your appointment.

Every study is reviewed and reported by a consultant. Your report is sent to you and your GP or referring clinician. If anything needs prompt attention, we contact you and your referrer directly.

Yes. We work with most UK and international insurers, including Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality and WPA, and we invoice insurers directly wherever the policy allows. Please obtain pre-authorisation before your appointment and bring your membership and authorisation numbers with you. If your insurer isn't listed, contact us — we can invoice most providers. Any excess or shortfall on your policy remains your responsibility.

Yes, we welcome self-pay patients. Fees depend on the tests required — contact us for a quotation. Fees are always confirmed with you before your appointment, and payment can be made by card or bank transfer.

When your appointment is confirmed we will tell you how to prepare for your specific tests. For exercise tests, wear comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for walking on a treadmill.

Your referral letter if you have one, your insurance membership and pre-authorisation numbers if you are insured, and a list of your current medications.

London Heart Lung Clinic is a diagnostic service — we do not provide urgent or emergency care. If you feel unwell or need urgent help, call 999 or NHS 111.

Yes. International and expatriate policies usually work on a guarantee of payment rather than an authorisation code — send us your policy details and referral in advance and we will confirm the arrangement before you attend. For embassy, high commission and corporate-sponsored patients we require a Letter of Guarantee confirming the authorised investigations before the appointment is confirmed.
